| Dot Com Pho – Sort of Cinematic Edition Posted: 11 Oct 2009 09:25 PM PDT Stephen Fung took over the filming of this week’s Dot Com Pho because he acquired a new toy for his camcorder. This episode’s “high production” value look was brought to you by JAG35’s Pro 35mm Adapter using a Nikon 50mm f/1.8D lens on a Canon HF100 HD Camcorder. The results look like film. However, Stephen needs to work on his manual focus skills. We had a sold out house for our meet up, with 14 people showing up. We ran out of room at our table and had to take over another one. I guess the news of Michael Kwan returning home brings out all the Kwan worshipers. For the sort of cinematic edition of Dot Com Pho, we have me getting yet another Free Shirt, Ed Lau attempting yoga, the iPhone app of the week, the gadget of the week, getting motion sickness because Stephen can’t focus and a whole lot more. | We Raised Over $5,300 To Help UGM Feed The Hungry Posted: 11 Oct 2009 09:20 AM PDT The donation drive for UGM started off slow but picked up nicely in the end. Thanks to your donations, we’ve raised enough money for the Union Gospel Mission to feed over 1,600 people this Thanksgiving. I want to thank everyone who made a donation to this worthy cause. For many of the homeless in Vancouver, this will be the start of a new life and new beginning and you’ve help made that possible. A huge shout out goes to Quinton Pullen for his $1,000 donation. I said that if anyone donates $1,000, I would give them a free review but Quinton doesn’t want a review. He doesn’t even want his name linked. He gave because he wanted to help. A true class act. Thank you Quinton! A big thank you goes out to all the readers who stepped forward.
Altogether, John Chow dot Com readers raised $2,654.89. I said I would match all donations and I have sent the UGM my half to bring our total to $5,309.78. Once again, thanks to everyone who helped to make this Thanksgiving a better one for the less fortunate in our society.
